This is a list of every first printing on paper that contains writing or art by JRR Tolkien.  Printed adaptations of Tolkien’s work that preserve the general narrative of his fictional writing are included. To be considered a unique, distinct publication there must be previously unpublished work or a new title/work permutation. Short quotes and excerpts from Tolkien’s writing are generally not considered a “work” unless they are being printed for the first time.
